3 Year Program

Our program is currently run in a cohort style program with classes starting every three years. The next scheduled start to our program will be in January of 2022.

Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in our programs. Your journey to becoming a Certified Professional Midwife in the State of Florida begins with completing the prerequisites. Both of our programs require students to gain a foundational education in the perinatal field. This includes being trained as a doula, childbirth educator and lactation consultant. We are excited to offer this education through our sister school Commonsense Childbirth Institute’s Certified Childbirth Consultant Program.


Our 3 year program prerequisites include:

  • Doula Certification

  • Lactation Educator Certification

  • Childbirth Educator Certification

  • 1 College Level math course

  • 1 College Level English course

  • College Level Anatomy and Physiology

  • Completion of a HIV/AIDS Course

  • NRP certification

  • CPR certification

4 Month Program

The first step in the process of enrolling in our 4 Month Licensure by Endorsement program is determining your eligibility. This can be done by having your educational documents evaluated by an educational credentialing organization approved by the Florida Council of Licensed Midwifery, such as:

Our 4 month program prerequisites include:

  • 3 college level credits in math

  • 3 college level credits in English or proof of English proficiency 

  • NRP Certification

  • CPR Certification

  • Completed evaluation from approved credentialing agency indicating that you qualify for Licensure by Endorsement 

  • Registered for or completion of:

  • Doula training

  • Lactation Educator training

  • Childbirth Educator training
